Complete Cancellation
Students who wish to cancel their registration for a
given term must secure written permission from their school
dean. The last day for complete cancellation
for any student is the same as the last day of the schedule
change period for that student. Please consult the Registrar's
Calendars for the appropriate date. Students receiving dean's
permission for a complete cancellation of registration will
receive a full tuition refund minus the required deposit. No record of attendance will be made on the student's
transcript for the given term.
Complete
Withdrawal
Students who wish to withdraw from school for a given
term must secure written permission from their school dean. Students withdrawing from school will
receive the appropriate mark of withdrawal (W, WF, or WU)
as determined by the school dean's office. Each school has
different dates for determining the appropriate mark for withdrawal,
so please consult your dean's office for any deadlines.
Prior to withdrawal, students should contact the Office
of Financial Aid and the Student Financial Services Office regarding the impact of withdrawing upon their aid and charges.
Unofficial withdrawal results in 100% forfeiture of tuition. If
a student officially withdraws, the student may be eligible
for a tuition adjustment and possible refund of payments depending
upon the date of withdrawal. Refunds are only processed for complete
withdrawal. Financial
aid awards that pay part or all of the student charges are
prorated accordingly. Refunds for Federal (Title IV) aid recipients
will be prorated in accordance with Federal regulations.
Partial
Withdrawal
Students
who wish to withdraw from one or more, but not all, courses for
which they are enrolled must secure written permission from their
school dean. Students withdrawing from one or more courses will
receive the appropriate mark of withdrawal (W, WF, or WU)
as determined by the school dean's office. Each school has different
dates for determining the appropriate mark of withdrawal, so
please consult your dean's office for any deadlines. During fall
and spring semesters, students receiving dean's permission for
a partial withdrawal will receive no tuition refund. During the
summer semester only, students receiving dean's permission for
a partial withdrawal will receive a partial tuition refund.
Note:
If you leave the University for any reason, you are advised
to contact the Student Financial Services Office and the Office of Financial
Aid to ensure that all financial matters are handled properly.
No refunds will be issued until all semester charges are paid
in full.

Cross Registration (ARCHE) |
|
| |
Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE)
ARCHE Cross Registration is a program developed
and sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education.
Under certain conditions the program allows students to take courses
at a member institution that are not offered at the home institution.
Students must be full-time and in good standing. Courses are taken
on a space available basis. All tuition and fees are paid through
the home institution. The student is registered at the host institution
as a "special" student only. Cross Registration does
not constitute regular admission and the student has access only
to those facilities needed to successfully complete the course(s).
Emory University
students who wish to enroll for courses at an ARCHE member institution
must complete a Cross Registration application form and receive
approval from their school dean and the University Registrar.
Students from other ARCHE member institutions
who wish to enroll at Emory University must contact their home
institution ARCHE cross registration coordinator.

Who is eligible to Pre-register?
-
All currently enrolled students in degree standing may pre-register during the prescribed period for their current school.
-
Emory College allows "Oxford continuees" and "College readmits" to pre-register.
-
Current College or Oxford students accepted for admission to the Business School are allowed to pre-register in the Business school.
If a student has any doubts whether he/she may pre-register, he/she should see his/her school dean.
Note: Students with a past due account will not be allowed to pre-register until cleared by the Student Financial Services Office.
Allied Health, Business, Graduate A&S, Public Health, Nursing and Theology:
Students pre-register at a time specified by their Dean's office. Dates are published in the Academic Calendar for the term. Students can confirm their schedules by viewing them on OPUS upon completion of the scheduling period for his/her school.
Law:
Students pre-register at a time specified by the Law School. The Law School notifies the student of his/her course schedule.

Emory College:
Academic Advising
Prior to pre-registration, consult with your academic advisor. Use this time to discuss problems and concerns about your requirements, career goals, and other academic issues. This is not merely a time for you to select courses, but a time for serious consideration of your academic plans. If you do not have an assigned advisor, you can go to 300 White Hall and arrange to see an academic counselor.
Summer School
There is no pre-registration for Summer School.

Students pre-register for fall and spring semesters by entering bid requests online using OPUS. The OPUS pathway to enter bids is Academics > Enrollment > Emory College Bidding. Bidding requests may be made online during a specified period of time for each class (Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman). Students may use the system and make adjustments before their bids are processed. Students who fail to bid by the deadline for their class may enter bids during the bidding request period for the next class.
At the close of a given bidding request period, all the available information is processed. Once a student's bids have been run and a schedule recorded in the system, the bidding request screen will no longer be accessible. Students in this pre-registration bidding period are then scheduled for courses.
Schedule changes can be made only during the add/drop/swap period. The opening date for the schedule change period for each term is available on the Registrar's Important Dates. Schedule changes will be made via OPUS. Students who fail to make bidding requests on or before the final day for the Emory College bidding period can register for classes during the add/drop/swap period. The OPUS pathway to make enrollment changes during the schedule change period is Academics > Enrollment > Enrollment and Add/Drop/Swap .
During bidding, a "permission required course" cannot be processed without a valid permission number.
A student's course schedule will be available on OPUS upon completion of the scheduling period for his/her class. The OPUS pathway to view a schedule is Academics > Enrollment > View My Class Schedule .

Payment Guidelines
Payment for any semester is due approximately
ten days before the official start of the term. A schedule of exact
dates for posting billing statements to OPUS and payment due dates can
be found on the Student Financial Services Office web site under the "Deadlines" menu.
If you are enrolling during the late registration
period or drop/add session for your school, payment is due on that
day. If payment is not made by the end of the drop/add session,
your course schedule may be cancelled.
Billing
Pre-term billing statements are created approximately
five weeks prior to the start of each term for students who have
registered for classes. Monthly billing statements are posted during
the first week of every month for any student with a balance on
their account.
All bills are accessible online through the OPUS
student system for viewing or printing. It is imperative that you rely on OPUS for billing statements. OPUS and Email are the official communication methods for Emory University. Student Financial Services does not mail billing statements.
Unless specifically enrolled
in an Emory Payment Plan, full payment of your student account
balance is due by the date indicated on the statement. A 1.25 percent
finance charge will be assessed per month on any past due balance.
The Emory Payment Plan is not available for
the summer sessions.
Methods of Payment
Payment of tuition and fees may be made by cash,
check, online payment, or wire transfer. Instructions for wiring payment directly
to a student account are available on the OPUS web site. Credit
cards are not accepted for payment of tuition and fees.

Courses Requiring
Permission
A
permission number is required for entry on OPUS for any course
with a "P" in the section number. The instructor of the course
is usually the person authorized to give permission. See the
department to receive a course permission number.
Overload and Underload of Hours for Emory College Students
Students may enroll for twelve to nineteen hours in any one semester. To take more or fewer hours, they must have permission from their faculty adviser and a dean in the Office for Undergraduate Education. Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and seniors in their final semester of work are permitted to take up to twenty-two hours (not counting physical education). Students with outstanding incomplete course grades may not overload in credit hours in subsequent semesters. Students must normally enroll for the minimum full-time load of twelve hours, except that a senior in the final semester of work is not required to enroll for more hours than are needed to complete the degree. Emory College students may not take fewer
than 12 hours or more than 19 hours in a fall or spring semester
without special permission from the dean. Go to White Hall Room
300 to request such permission.

Emory
College students enrolling in graduate level courses require
